Back

Well. I think I might try to keep this thing up again. I got a new camera and would like to post some pictures, and not just on facebook and myspace. So I think this is a step up for that anyhow. I would like to get a blog dedicated to pictures soon, but will have to do some research and I think actually buy a domain. We shall see.

So the camera I got is the Nikon D90. I bought it in February and have now just gotten it back from an extended trip to a Nikon facility where it had some replacement of parts done. Specifically its sensor.

A week after I got the camera I noticed a hot pixel. I sent it in only to have it sent back to me with the same exact problem. They didn’t do a damn thing. So then I had to send it back, this time for free courtesy of Nikon. I finally have the camera back in my hands hot pixel free! I am very excited to start learning more about photo taking and photoshop. I have a long road ahead of me. Here is a picture of Dude.

Crazy Times

We are in some crazy times.  Watching the news, watching the stock market slowly tumble down, down…..I can’t say that I understand all of it, because I don’t.  But, I can see that it isn’t good.  I go from reading CNN, to reading the posts on godlikeproductions.com, to watching Ester Hicks (abrahamhicks.com).  So what do we do now?  Do we ignore whats going on just like every other “Joe 6-pack”, or do we stand up and say something?  Do we focus on what makes us happy right now?  Because I am sure that standing up and saying something, that standing up for our country, is not a very pleasant road, and probably wouldn’t make us to happy.

Our country is filled with a bunch of incompetent people who are not fit to vote for a leader for this country.  They base their opinion on ONE, issue and if the candidate doesn’t believe what they do they vote for the other one.  Really, listen to the radio/TV interview people on who they are voting for and why.  They just sound STUPID, and we are depending on these people to vote for the right person?

I think that something big is going to happen.  It already has.  Perhaps we are in the midst of it.  Maybe 2012 really does have some significance and my Grandpa is right afterall……..

The odd one out

This weekend was a pretty good weekend.  We went to a BBQ on Friday night, then went out to some bars.  Saturday we helped set up for a party of one of our friends friend.  Then partied till 3am.  We met some awesome people!

It becomes more difficult to meet people the older you get.  You have a couple options.  For instance, people you work with.  Generally I have not had good luck with this.  Partly because I am somewhat of a recluse, that could be to strong of word.  I am just socially inept.  In my current situation the people I work with are awesome, but they are older and are not ones to go out to the bars or even just hang out.  I have been in situations before that I met awesome people on my same page, but just never went out.  Second you could go to church.  Not much more to say about this one.  Thirdly, you go places and just start talking to people.  Like I said above, I am not good at this one.

So, last night was great.  I actually felt comfortable conversing, and found it rather easy.  I think it has to do with the crowd.  Hopefully more repeats of last night are to come.

Sad..

One step closer to that cheeseburger in paradise!

We have sold my car!  Well, pretty much sold it.  The buyers are taking it to their mechanic on Monday, and so far as I know there are no problems.  So as of next week the burden of the payment will be gone.  This will save us 500$/month!  That is huge!  We will be able to pay for Matt’s school with no worries and start to pay off our debt.  I will miss my car, but the thought of saving that much money is so relieving!

It will go to an 18 year old boy.  I am sure he will thoroughly enjoy it.  And who knows maybe sometime down the road I can buy another car, a used car, that’s for sure.  For now, we live in the city and have 1 car and that will suffice since we are one step closer to freedom in our sad state of a nation.

Going back

We recently went back to California, where I grew up and Matt and I met.  It is alwasy strange going back.  It was a good time mixed in with some drama and then a happy ending.

We also went back to Carlsbad which  was a reminder.  I had forgotten how I felt last year when I became really involved and passionate about the environment and changing careers.  Being back there brought those feelings back.  Last year I wanted to save the world, and this year and I am just surviving it.  Last year I wanted to drastically change careers.  I thought by moving up here and taking the job I did, it would be drastically different.  But, where ever you go there ya are.  Don’t get me wrong, I do like my current job more than my last, but I am just seeing the same ole’ bull shit as before, just a different face.

On the same token it reminded me that I can do whatever I want and do not have to settle.

Driving

Living in California, you take driving for granted.  Living in Seattle, downtown, you start to realize how nice it is to just drive around.  I hated driving in Ca.  Here I only drive about 10 miles a week; so when I get in my car and drive down the highway it can be very relaxing.  The windows down, the raido up….ahhh….I miss being able to drive down PCH in Carlsbad.  Hardly any traffic, right on the water….ah the good old expensive days.

A new blog….

I have decided to just start a new blog the easy way without hassling with the domain and FTP crap.  Just a straightforward wordpress blog.  Somewhere where I can write down my thoughts of the day.  And what an interesting day to start with….

I was on the shuttle coming from work, and there were these 3 boys, 2 with game boy advances and 1 who really wanted to play with one.  I have seen this one boy on the shuttle a couple mornings now.  So after they won’t let him play he happens to sit down next to me because I am right across from the other 2 boys.  He starts crying.  I just happen to have my DS with me.  So I take a chance, hoping that he won’t run off with it (we do live downtown Seattle) and tap him on the shoulder.  He ignores me at first, but then I take my DS and ask him if he wants to play with it.  He perks right up and asks what game I have.  I had Super Mario, and he said he liked Super Mario, and started playing.

Then one of the boys turned and said “see if we aren’t nice to you then someone else is” in a smart ass tone of voice.  I just turned and gave them both a dirty look.  After that one of the boys gave him the Game boy Advance, but he just put it behind him and kept playing the DS.  All 4 of us then started talking about what other games we all had, and what systems we had.  I had a pleasant conversation about gaming with 10 year old boys the rest of the way home.

He did not run off with it, and gave the DS back as we pulled into our stop.  I said that if I see him again he could play with it.  Being that I catch the shuttle across the street from the housing projects, they probably don’t have a whole lot of money to spare.

So all in all it was a good day.  I made someone elses day a little brighter.
